I launched this blog with the idea that people are tired of reading blogs from people that don’t actually make a full time living off the internet (see my story). I also believe people are tired of reading blogs from people that are making a full time living off the internet but only because of the products they create and sell to teach people how to make money on the internet. With those two loose guiding principals in mind I relaunched the blog in early 2010 with a new URL and basically no advertising. In the four and a half months that have followed I have discussed a wide array of ways to make money online (even wrote a short book) and on a monthly basis I share how much money I make online along with the sources that money came from. What I haven’t discussed since relaunching this blog in early 2010 is how much traffic I’m getting. Today I will be showing off some numbers and sharing my goal for 2010 with this blog.
Blog Traffic in 2010:
The traffic in the past four and a half months’ has been a little over 13,000 unique visitors and almost 40,000 page views which is admittedly nothing stellar; however, this is all traffic from starting with basically nothing early this year.
What is most exciting is the fact that I’m starting to gain a lot more traction as you can see by these stats from the past 30 days:
Half of the traffic for 2010 has come in just the past 30 days which goes to show how fast my blog is growing. The average time spent on my site at 4 minutes and 21 seconds per visit is also very encouraging and shows that most people are sticking around and reading almost 3 articles before they leave. It looks like people want to learn how to earn money online without being blasted with advertisements and useless products in every single blog post (Success! My guiding principals outlined above are true – people just want good information from someone that knows what they’re talking about without being pitched a product all the time.)
Moving to another statistic you can see similar results. Here are my blog RSS subscriber stats for 2010 thus far:
I started with a little over 200 RSS readers from my old blog which I slowly stopped updating in 2009 and now in 2010 I’ve since grown to just over 800 (at the time of compiling these stats).
Like the traffic stats I showed above a similar effect is displayed in my RSS readership growth over the past 30 days:
Mirroring the traffic gains, I’ve more than doubled the number of RSS readers in the past 30 days.
Goals for 2010:
My goals for 2010 with this blog are not based on traffic numbers, instead I’m shooting for a goal in total RSS readers of 5,000. I’m around 800 right now and I bet I’ll hit 1,000 before May comes to a close. At that point I’d have 7 months left to get an additional 4,000 readers and I have so many more great money making tips like these planned for the remainder of the year I know I can accomplish my goal.
What do you think? Can I hit 5,000 RSS readers by the end of 2010?
Coming Up:
I’ll be sharing some of the tactics I’ve employed to drive more traffic to my blog in a future post but what I have coming up on Monday is a very exciting story on how I earned over $2,000 from one blog post back in 2009. Subscribe now -You won’t want to miss it 😀
Wow, your site is growing fast. I just started mine this month and it’s been going well for me. Nowhere near your traffic, but in 3 weeks I have 700 visits and 2300 pages views. Added 20 rss subscribers and 25 to my list. Now if only I can grow that much each month, it will be exciting.

The more useful the infoation is the better as I’ve found. My most popular articles continue to be ones that highlight tips based on my past successes or failures with something. Are you a full tim Internet entrepreneur as well? (can’t check your blog right now)
Impressive Chris. You’re definitely one of the blogs out there that actually provides us with useful info. I think you can easily get to 5,000 RSS subscribers.
Thank you very much for the kind words. I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep it up as well as the growth.
nice stats, when I first visited your blog I truly became your fan. The information you provide hereis based on your own experiences and thats why it helps a lot.
Keep the good posts coming.
I heartily agree with others. I enjoy reading your posts here, packed full of info. You’re right about either the blogs being beginner blogs or blogs that teach how how to make money online. Psssh.
I think you’re doing well for starting off this year. Keep it up.
p.s. You have go tto set ‘notify me of follow-up comments by email’ and ‘join my newsletter’ unchecked by default. It’s annoying to undo it and feels like I’m being tricked into signing up.

Looking forward to your future post where you’ll be sharing how you managed to increase those traffic.

“I also believe people are tired of reading blogs from people that are making a full time living off the internet but only because of the products they create and sell to teach people how to make money on the internet”
That’s just about all the gurus right there….
I found you on the Warrior Forum, through Tiffany Dow and I’ve been reading ever since for the reasons that you’ve touched on. I also like how you discuss your organization strategies. I honestly think you can get more than 5000 this year, but it’s a good goal.
Great blog!
4:21 average time on site is amazing. That means most of the people don’t just come and leave. They actually read something.
Hey Chris
Great site here, I found you via Pat Flynns site. It’s great to see the growth in your site over the past few months, and judging by the feedcounter today (just under 1000) you’re well on track for your 5000 target 🙂
I’ve also just started a new blog in the IM arena after working in other niches before, and totally agree that it’s much better to not be constantly pitching to people. I just try and provide good value to my visitors and recommend related products that I use in my own business, and a few of my own tools that I have created.
I think that formula works best.
I’d love to hear more about your amazon affiliate stuff, that’s one area I’ve never really experimented with much but it’s good to see the potential of it.

Great Post.. looking forward to seeing the top 3-4 sources for traffic (other than google).
Guest posting and posting in forums are great ways to attract visitors outside of the conventional social networking sites.
This is a great site, and I can tell you’re on the right track to hit your goal of 5000.

Thanks James, I’ve actually been doing some guest posting lately and have a very exciting and informative post scheduled which outlines some of the most effective strategies I’ve found (that no one else seems to be sharing right now) – stay tuned.
thanks for sharing your tactics in driving more traffic to websites. I find it really useful. I think I have to do some of it.. hope to see more of your ideas..
