I’m a big believer in goal setting and although I usually set my goals quickly after the new year begins I wanted to spend some more time really evaluating how I wanted to run my business as I moved into 2011. I’ve taken enough time to reflect and I’m ready to share my goals again for this year. Long time readers may recall this blog post where I planned to quit my job in 2011, but fortunately I was fired in late 2009 and was able to achieve my dream of self employment earlier. With that out of the way my focus for 2011 is to grow my business even bigger.
My Goals For 2011:
1. Earn 50% more than I did last year which was over $150,000+ (2010 Income Report)
2. Spend at least $100,000 or more on buying websites
3. Automate more of my business by hiring at least two more full time employees
4. Hit 10,000+ RSS readers for my blog (currently at 4,632)
5. Complete the P90X workout program
I have a clear focus in mind for my business in 2011. I’ve already had numerous website sales over the past few years and most recently had my first six figure deal. So moving forward in this year I’m going to continue buying more websites (if you’re looking to sell your website(s) at a reasonable price contact me here). Last year I was earning well into the six figure income mark and one of the beauties of being self employed is that your income earning potential is uncapped. So in 2011 I plan to give myself a 50% raise and continue earning six figures. I have to continue working really hard if I am to accomplish my goal of buying the Guthrie Castle.
Finally, I am determined to get into shape this year. Sitting in a chair all day at home has it’s benefits but it also has it’s downsides with one of those being a lack of physical activity. So I’ve ordered P90x and will be starting in a few days to get in shape.
What are your goals for 2011? Have you even set any yet?
Nice set of goals there. Mine for this year include doubling my income, build two membership sites, sell at least one website, and streamline my site creation so I can easily outsource it.
And of course beat the rest of you in the Niche Website Challenge!
Good luck, Chris! One of my goals is to buy more websites as well… my goal was to buy 2 authority sites, but I didn’t set a dollar amount. I should do that….
The main reason why I set a goal with a dollar amount is so that I can track the websites I buy and then just subtract the price from the $100k target. Then I’m going to of course take those sites and work on improving their income etc.
Great goals. Trust me, the P90X goal is awesome. I’ve completed it the right way and it does wonders. “Keep pressing play”
I hated P90x. The program is great, it’s just Tony Horton drives me completely insane. I wish they redid it with someone else in the video and maybe I would start it up again.
That’s 99% of the reason why I bought it – the infomercial (joking of course). lol when you see the people running along saying things like “P90 X!!!!! (while they cross their arms in an X)” lol.
Sweet, yah I’ve met a few people that have done the program and that’s one of the main reasons why I’m going to do it.
I’m totally on board with getting in shape this year too. I started P90x and it was pretty great, however I found that I really needed to get out of the house more so I’ve been going to the gym instead. I lost between 10 and 15 pounds the first few weeks but have since plateaued. Anyway, good luck with the P90x, it’s a great program.
Hey Wes, yah I know I need to get out of the house more but I’m actually moving soon to a place where more of my friends live (like within 5 mins) so I’ll just get out of the house in the evenings to hang out with them. I’m pretty excited about doing it though as I carried around some groceries while at Fred Meyer the other day and no joke my arms were tired the next day (yes I know that’s so sad hah hah)
LOLOLOl! 🙂
Hey, don’t worry, I was right there with you before Christmas. I had to dress nice for the holidays but couldn’t fit into any of my nice clothes anymore. Got too used to wearing sweats all day. I refuse to buy bigger sizes so I’m vowing to fit into my clothes again!
Anyway, good luck with the P90x!
My goal for 2011 is to earn $10,000 per month in residual income. I also want to come up with a business idea by the end of the year that I can start working on for the next few years. In terms of health, I actually.. hmm.. dun got any health goals =(
Great goals I hope you achieve them!
I sure have! My 2011 goals are party of what I call the Anti-New Years Resolution Movement.
Actually I’ve already accomplished one of my goals for 2011 by getting my name to first page of google.
Wow we have two of the same goals! Your income and P90X goals are in my top five too! I’ve been following your work for a while and I am impressed on your determination and follow through. I think you will hit each one of these goals but don’t sleep on the P90X it will be tough. I also worked in a few goals for my site too which I think is important to delineate. If you have a project/business/job it’s ok to have a second or even third set of goals there too. When you put things in different buckets it helps keep you focused and honest with that your big picture is. Nice work!
Hey Chris, I purchased your program this week. My goals are many.
1. Make my first dime. done
2. Make my first buck. done
3. Make my first $100. not done
2011 goals, by the years end, “crush” my potential in amazon affiliate. Create a solid and consistent second income.
I first heard you on Pat Flynns podcast. Job well done to you both!
Setting milestone goals is great. Once you start making money and then make your first $100, then your first $1,000 and so on you constantly learn what works and doesn’t work and can begin to scale accordingly. It’s a ton of fun! 🙂
congrate Christ for last year achievement, let’s see if you can complete your 2011 goal with a success..
Thanks and best of luck for you in the new year too!
This will be an extremely enceinte resourcefulness that you are furnishing and you pass it away for free. I savor seeing websites that begin to see the value of supplying a prime resource for free. I truly enjoyed reading your Wiley Post. Thanks!
Wow – I have to say as far as pure numbers my goals are far more modest at this point, but I’m hoping a six figure year won’t be a complete dream a few years from now. For this year, it’s getting a full time passive income, doubling my total freelancing income, and a few solid goals for how to get there like setting up a dozen niche sites and writing x number of hubs at hubpages. I find I get more done if I have some concrete “how to get there” goals instead of just a vague end goal.
No, I haven’t set mine and this is a mistake for a blogger. Every blogger’s goal should be to grow and get to be known by the community! 🙂
Ive been hearing a lot of the P90X program and have been eager to try it out. Hopefully I will have more time for that as the past few months for me have been quite busy. Oh yeah, one of my goals for 2011 is to earn at least some money from my site and work my way up from there.
Right now Im making $3000 a month from the internet, but this year I hope to increase it to $4000.
I had no plan about blogging. That is great information. I just pan to earn 1000$ per month. it is small for you but it is big for me in cambodia. I am creating other blogs and promoting as well. I will be back to read your informative content.
Hi,
I live about 114 miles from Castle Guthrie, it look a great place to go and visit next time I am at that side of the country.
All the best with your goals,
Ruth
That’s awesome. Send me a picture! 🙂
I really agree 100% with setting goals and being as specific as you can in terms of numbers as well. I have also started acquiring a few websites in different niches and the two I’ve acquired so far are on the way to getting traffic and I plan to hold onto them for 1 year as I monetize and build them to profitability.
Thanks for solid advice and as always leading by example Chris =)
Good luck! I am sure you will achieve those goals.
I will follow your post, so keep us updated.
The year is coming to an end and I’m glad that I’ve achieved some of my goals. Setting goals are very important because it makes us stronger, confident and more focused.
