I have been writing about how to make money on the internet on this blog since early 2009. I rarely struggle to come up with what to talk about on my blog and when you don’t see a post in a week or two it’s generally because I’m just out putting into practice the type of stuff I talk about on my blog (a vast majority of my income comes from projects unrelated to this blog). But rather than just continue writing posts on whatever I think you’d like to learn about, I’d like to do a quick gut check and just ask you. So my question to you is simple:
What do you want to learn from me?
I’d love to hear your feedback so that it can help shape what I discuss on this blog. I will see you in the comments below.
Thanks in advance for your feedback
I would like to hear if and how you develop mini adsense sites. How you go about researching the smaller niches. I am not even sure if you do work on mini/niche adsense sites but it would be interesting to hear for the smaller players among us ๐
Thanks and keep up the good work.
Hey Adi, yes this is something I could cover for sure ๐
I think in general about market research, how to find a great keyword that is in low competition and easy to rank.
Also maybe something about Conversion – how to create a better Conversion Affiliate site or Squeeze Page.
If I have more ideas, will add in. Thanks ahead!
Thanks for the comments Kent
Do you do your own website design/programming ? If so what software
No what little design I do is limited to basic HTML stuff I learned way back in Junior High School. Like how to make a link open in a new window, change the color of a font etc. etc.
Chris, let me start by saying I have really been enjoying the pod casts and the live case study.
Personally, I am interested in strategies to help manage multiple projects and scaling – be it link building, content management or general maintenance and tweaking of a website. Scaling is something I struggle with as I have now learned the basics and know and what it takes to run a successful website.
Hey Dan,
Good topic thanks for the suggestion.
Chris
I am new to affilate marketing and trying to get a grasp on website design/programming. Do you program your own websites ? What software do you recommend for your web content ?
Hey I guess you should help us with SEO and ad sense to earn, but your blog is the best for any online money making guide for every one who read it very regularly.
I would love to see some tips on getting around and making profit on Internet Marketing with a very low budget, or non-existent one.
Hi Chris, I started reading your blogs and it’s chock full of practical, down-to-earth info. Not the lofty “make $239,564 in 3 weeks” type of garbage.
One thing that would really help a complete newbie like me is a program that shows, step-by-step, lead-by-the-hand, how to mimic what you do so we can do it in a much shorter time, and avoiding the “landmines.” ๐
Thanks for the great suff here!
CW
Hey Chuck,
The closest thing to that would be the already existing Niche Profit Course product that I have. That covers Amazon in more detail, although I’ve thought about expanding it to cover more aspects of how I make money from websites etc. etc.
Chris
Chris, are you doing this whole internet marketing thing alone? I just want to know what are some of your challenges when you first started and some of you “rookie” mistakes that you may have done when you first started. I realize most people learn from others mistakes most of the time.
I do a good chunk of it alone but I have a full time VA along with a bunch of contractors that I hire for smaller projects. At this very time I also have a team in India working on a much more in depth project that requires a ton of custom coding and design work (and a lot of money); however, it’s not often that I have that many people at once.
In either case how I outsource could be a good topic to explore further for sure.
Hi, I’ll like you to write bi-weekly reviews on some of other people’s websites, maybe from your readers. Share what’s wrong with their sites, such as header, placement of ads and pic. From there, more readers will follow your blog as they can improve theirs as well.
Maybe you can start by giving my site some pointers.
Thanks
Hey Megan,
Perhaps a series of blog posts where people email me a question and I answer it on the blog might work… ๐
Chris
Something that I know we all need help with is LINKBUILDING, maybe a short tutorial on how you go about your way to build backlinks to your niche sites.
Hey Dencha,
Good point. I don’t follow a strict formula though as it’s constantly changing and I vary it based on the size of the niche opportunity as well. In either case this could be a good topic for sure.
Chris
Hi Chris, thanks for offering help to learn more on topic of our interest ๐
I would love to see detailed posts on link building for niche sites.
ANYTHING!!!! I want to learn anything and everything about how to make money making blogs and having your own blog site. What’s the main reason that we have to increase traffic? how does blogging refrigerate money and in what different ways?
Something I don’t find written a lot about and that would be interesting to see your take on is results tracking and analysis.
What parameters are you using for tracking and analysis of your sites performance? What tools? What do you look for? How do you put the results into actionable changes?
I am looking for a little more than the usual monthly visitors and dollars earned and some CTR. Don’t know what it is I am after exactly but I am sure there are tons of interesting metrics that could be useful to analyse and would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks for a great resource
Hey Dan – good suggestion. I don’t spend a ton of time on tracking and analytics though particularly because all of my traffic is free so I don’t have to worry about my ad spend not converting but I could go into more detail about what I do like to do on my sites.
+ 1 for scaling and how to create processes/systems involving managing outsourced resources.
My biggest adversity is ranking. I dunno if I am easily discouraged but I will backlinks some sites and typically see no results. I am interested to learn the best way to backlink, where to backlink and how long should it take to see results?
I’d love to get your thoughts on how you track Amazon affiliate conversions. We have multiple sites and have affiliate links (sometimes for the same items) on multiple pages on those sites. I get a little confused trying to figure out what pages or placements are the most effective. I’ve implemented the multiple Tracking Ids but I feel like there’s more I could do to better understand what works and what doesn’t work.
Thanks for all the great content.
I’m looking at adding a tracking feature on a per product basis into the EasyAzon plugin (that should at least help some).
I have a couple of questions, It seems people use their full name on blogs and you tube, how to secure your personal info, concerned with identity theft
also, I have a 5yr old Mac Book, think I need to update- What computer equipment is available if any, for blogging and web building that can go mobile. I am on the road grooming dogs 12hours a day and want to be able to get a website up and going between dogs in the car- no time to go to Starbucks for WI-FI. Is their any such equipment? talk about your computer equipment preferences
I love to read about your interesting posts about being amazon associates and maximizing adsense ads. But I would love to learn on how to make Build a niche sites in eBay. It is because I haven’t tried eBay or amazon affiliate so I was amazed on the benefits that it could provide. And it is nice of you to ask your readers about what they want to learn and sharing your free 10 day course.
Hey Stephan,
I’m building 3 niche sites right now with the main focus on eBay as a monetization path so yah that could be a good topic for sure.
Chris
Hey Chris,
I have not written you since the 1st easy azon webinar where I purchased the product. At that time i asked you about the fact that North carolina was being dropped by affiliates, and could i incorporate in other state. To make this short we actually started an LLc in florida, with my brother in law living there so we did not need registered agent, just made him 10% shareholder. Amazon accepted us and all is good. We are using easy azon well and will be going live soon. However, we have had some setbacks. I decided that I wanted to combine affiliates on my site to hopefully prevent total loss of revenue in the future, due to algorithm changes, economic changes or state nexus changes. I figured that diversity would be good. However after getting set up at CJ, click bank and Linkshare, I noticed that it is very tough to get accepted by some of the major players in my niche without having great traffic, being live or a combination of the two. This has caused me to have to revamp my review articles several times so that when we go live I will have live links and products to rep. My question to you is do you have any sites that you mix affiliates on or do you just do amazon sites, clickbank sites, cj sites, etc? We are hoping that after we write enough review articles and get articles on other quality sites backlinking to us that Crutchfield and Sirius will change their minds when we reapply but we are worried that they might not like amazon links on our pages competing with theirs. Any thoughts on any of the above would be helpful. By the way your podcast is great! Thanks, Patrick
PS – we are running thesis theme with Thesis Awesome Skin and Eazy Azon works well with it. Make another product so I can buy it dude!
I think that of all the guys that I have read, You, Pat flynn, James Martell and James Martells students Paula and Wanda have been the real deal
where others are just faking it. If you are not familiar with them look up Amazonian Profits. Between your programs and that one we are starting with amazon. I have a webdeveloper full time in the phillipines that I hired thtrough Chris Duckers Virtual Staff Finder and we are going slow because I run a plumbing company, but thanks to you we are off to the races. By the way, Virtual Staff Finder works well if you were wondering. Best Regards.
Hey Patrick,
Thanks for the kind words. Yes I do know Paula and Wanda – they also do really well with Amazon. And I know Pat Flynn very well (met him at Blog World). I haven’t met James yet.
I am doing a few more products but after that I’m going to probably stop so that I can spend more time building my business. Perhaps I’m just bad at product launches lol but I make way more money actually doing the stuff that I talk about on my blog than selling products related to it.
Chris
I would like to know about adsense placements on your niche sites. Where are the best converting spots? Also other tips about writing copy that encourages people to click those ads.
Thanks!
1. I am interested to know how to make a good website to become a great website, or how we judge the website whether it has reach the maximum in terms of revenue and earnings.
2. I would also like to know more about the consulting service you provided.
Thanks.
Hey Brian,
1. Check out my free 10 day course for an intro on how I do that
2. Yah it’s $197 for an hour and I help analyze your business and give you some actionable advice to apply to your business. You can email me if you’re interested in doing a session.
Chris
I have various products I want to sell in social network sites. I guess I want to learn how to be effective in social network marketing.
Hi Chris,
First up, kudos for your site and podcast, they’re very helpful and enjoyable as well ๐ I first heard you through Pat Flynn’s podcast.
I’ve been having moderate success with Amazon since i started 2 months ago and i’d love to learn more from you.
Sticking to the topic, I’m interested to learn about the ff:
1) How different it is to create a made-for-amazon site targeted purely for seasonal products or sale periods.
2) What’s the optimal page/review count per niche site that balances effort and conversion for niche sites.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Dave Tong
http://reviews.davidleetong.com
1. These are doable. I’ve heard of one dude who was making six figs from just his Halloween websites (although I haven’t been able to verify his income otherwise I’d mention his name here)
2. I do 5 – 20 but it always depends on the niche topic and competition so sadly in this case I have to say: “It varies”
Thanks Chris, for the reply ๐
If you don’t mind me asking another question, with your collection of niche sites, do most of them function like a micro-site where all you do is provide info and intercept the sale or do these sites ‘connect’ with the visitor like a blog or community?
Dave
Both. Mini sites – no visitor interaction. Bigger sites – there is visitor interaction.
Chris I would love to see more tips on how you put together you audio and video content. Do you script them or just wing it? How much time do you spend editing? I’m talking more high level, 30k foot view stuff here, not what software you use and how to embed a video. That much I know!
If it’s for a product about the only thing I script is the sales video and even those I don’t script sometimes because I sound so terrible reading a script. So most everything is just having a list of points I want to discuss and then just hitting record and going through them.
Chris –
I have 2 questions I’d love to see you talk about:
1. I think Joe’s question above is pretty spot on. However, I’m pretty incompetent when it comes to “internet tools” and I’d actually like to see the details of software, etc. and how to use them.
2. Another thing I struggle with is something I’m going to call the “pretty factor”. I am just starting in adsense and I hate how crappy some sites look. I try to make my sites look decent, but I’m spending way too much time because I’m just not proficient enough to create nice headers, etc. I’d love to see anything along creating quick logos or nice headers or other site layout tricks that really draw in the customer/consumer.
Good questions. The internet tools thing is probably better answered specifically (like if you have a tool you own but aren’t sure the best way to use)
As for the pretty factor, one way you can do that is to just get a higher quality logo done for the site. That always makes things look a little better. Good questions though and certainly topics I could go into more detail about.
Chris,
Love the podcast! Wish you had time to do more. But I understand. I’d REALLY like to see case studies done on different methods starting from scratch. Say…
1. Amazon affiliate site vs niche site.
2. Niche site vs authority site
3. Unique Article Wizard vs Blog Blueprint vs Bookmarking Demon
4. etc.
That’d be pretty cool, and I might even try that out myself. We’ll see! ๐
You should do number 3, heavily document what you do and then write some guest posts here about it. ๐
I don’t use the software services that much myself…
We’ll keep in touch. ๐
Hi chris,
I found your website very informative and interesting to read. You have shared good knowledge of generating income online and I want learn more on this topic. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this website with us.
Hi Chris and thanks for asking for topic suggestions.
I would love to learn more about the analytics and testing of your niche sites, especially more detail around A/B testing. What tools do you use? What triggers you to initiate an A/B test and how do you structure it. How long do you run such tests? What other type of testing, if any, do you use. Best practices, etc.
Thanks
