I posted my last two months earnings for June and then for July, but in the back of my mind I’ve always been curious about the perception of publishing income report posts. On the one hand, it helps to build my reputation as more of an authority figure on this niche, but on the other hand it can also make me look like an ass (to put it bluntly).
Now granted, I’ve had so many failures while trying to earn money online I just felt the need to share how things are starting to turn a corner and give some hope to those of you that have struggled like I have, but for new coming readers to my blog they might just be thinking – ‘WTF, all this guy writes about is how much money he made last month – where’s the unsubscribe button’. Other people will say, ‘Yes, post your income figures I like to see how others are doing’ but I want you to vote and give your honest opinion of what you think of people that post income reports?
Edit: Hmmm, the poll doesn’t seem to be working – just share your comments below
Hey Chris, I enjoy seeing real numbers and I think it’s obvious you are not doing it to brag. My only suggestion is to share more of how you’re actually doing it. People value anything that can help them out in their own businesses. The dollar amount it itself is most interesting only to buy you credibility for the real content.
Its like imagine you saw another blog post “How to get more followers on twitter”. Ho-hum seen a bunch of those. But if you saw “How to get more followers on twitter (and btw I have a million of them)” now the author has credibility. But the content is still the most important part. Posting the number without the content doesn’t make sense.
This is how bloggers like Darren Rowse do it when they share numbers…they also say, here is step by step how you can reproduce it! There may be something proprietary you want to avoid people copying, but in my experience giving it away just means more will come back to you and it will build your credibility further.
Keep it up!
Brian

Honestly, when I come across blogs with that information I will briefly give it a glance. It gives the reader a chance to see how well you’re going, and compare your increase on a monthly basis. Not everyone will want that information but others appreciate it. Most readers know why it’s available too. I guess it goes back to not being able to make everyone happy ๐ Keep up the good work!
Hey Brian,
Great points as always. I am going to be sharing more about how I’ve been able to do really well with Amazon’s affiliate program.
I’ve literally tested almost everything you can think of with their program and haven’t even tried optimizing the Adsense component.
@ML Vanessa
Thanks for your comments and feedback as well ๐
Hey!
I am definitely not a WTF kinda person. So you know my answer. But, for sure, you would have those people. But, you would be better off in terms of your results when you have a targeted niche who want that kinda money & every trick of the trade. So, I know traffic matters, but right one matters more.
Cheers!
